Brighton & Hove Open Door (staged annually as a part of the national Heritage Open Days)
Background
Brighton & Hove Open Door offers free access to places in our city and its environs that are usually closed to the public or would charge for admission.
This once-a-year opportunity sees buildings of all ages, styles and functions open their doors to tours, and the staging of other events and activities that bring local culture and history to life.
Brighton & Hove Open Door is co-ordinated by volunteers at The Regency Town House heritage centre. The cost of staging the event is met by the Friends of The Regency Town House, the The Brunswick Town Charitable Trust and public donation - please make a contribution.
Relationship to Heritage Open Days
Brighton & Hove Open Door is a part of the Heritage Open Days (HODs) celebration of England's architecture and culture that sees over 1,400 organisations and some 40,000 volunteers work to deliver thousands of site openings and events. Heritage Open Days attracts over 3 million visitors, making it England's biggest voluntary cultural event. The countrywide Heritage Open Days programme is managed by a small National Team who receive support from the National Trust, and the People's Postcode Lottery.
