The Here in the Past project has been promoted in a wide variety of ways.
Dozens of street exhibitions have been staged across Brighton & Hove. Many more exhibitions, together with guided walks and tours have been staged during the annual Heritage Open Days celebrations. This has resulted in huge numbers of people learning about Here in the Past and many offering to volunteer their time to help with the project.
We have provided talks about Here in the Past to organisations across the city, including First Base and Brighton Housing Trust, Westdean Women's Institute, Brighton & Hove U3A and the Friends of Brunswick Square & Terrace. The project has also been taken into schools and presented at the annual Brighton Science Festival.
Further afield, presentations have been made to the Shamley Green Group, the Prince's Trust, the Victorian Society and the Pittville History Group.
We have worked with pupils from many local schools, some students choosing to spend time with us during their summer vacation to help us with the project.
Besides this, we have staged Here in the Past exhibitions at The Regency Town House, from where we run Here in the Past and many of the volunteer activities associated with the project.
